We The North addresses

Three published addresses for the same platform. Copy rather than retype, and verify the signature once you are through.

Address 1 hn2paw7zadwkcra3qzv5e4q547i7e5lvxm62cfxqftuqdu7moiu2ceyd.onion
Address 2 hn2paw7zfvndw3dovycegeqmvvnf4pl67b3g2p7pohjlzavloosh73id.onion
Address 3 hn2paw7zrgujyhnt6mgxlt2q6uhgbke4itpqitxhyfbumq3wtnckbuyd.onion

This site publishes the list and does not monitor it. An address that opens is not an address that is genuine, and the check that settles it takes under a minute.

Words

Defined in the sense used across the register, which is not always how they are used elsewhere.

TermMeaning
v3 onion addressFifty six characters of base32 plus the suffix, computed from a public key rather than assigned by anyone. Cannot be seized and proves nothing about who runs it.
DescriptorThe signed record a hidden service publishes so clients can find it. Publishing fails routinely, which is the usual reason an address goes quiet for an hour.
CircuitThe path your client builds through relays. A bad one produces failures identical to a service being down, which is why a new circuit is always the first thing to try.
FingerprintA short hash of a public key, comparable by eye. The thing you pin. The key file itself is disposable.
Vanity generationGenerating keypairs until an address starts with chosen characters. Cheap for a short prefix, impossible for a whole address.
Near missAn address matching the recognisable opening of a real one and differing in the middle. What people mean when they say an address was cloned.
ReplayPresenting a genuine old signed statement as current. Signatures never expire, so this works unless you read the date inside the signed text.
RotationRetiring addresses and introducing new ones with an overlap during which both work. Routine, and never announced with a deadline.
Two of three multisigAn escrow contract where funds move only when two of buyer, vendor and platform sign. The platform key is a tiebreaker, not a veto.
SubaddressA one time destination a wallet issues per payment so two payments cannot be linked by where they went. Reusing one defeats the purpose.
Ring signatureHides which input was actually spent among decoys, concealing the sender on the Monero chain.
The boundaryWhere money converts from something with a record into something without one. Where nearly all real privacy is lost, and not on the chain.
Rate limitingSlowing or refusing connections based on behaviour, since a hidden service cannot see identity. It looks identical to rejection.
Parked balanceFunds held on the platform and not committed to an order, so outside escrow and outside every protection.
AggregationOne directory copying another. Common enough that agreement between lists is much weaker evidence than it appears.

Terms this site avoids

Dark web, which names no network and describes nothing technical. Deep web, which means content not indexed by search engines and is mostly bank statements and intranets. Both appear in search queries, so they turn up in a page title or two here, and neither is used in an explanation because neither is precise enough to build an argument on.
